Celebrity Fashion News!

Last night,  September 10, 2009, will forever be remembered in fashion history. Created by Vogue to stimulate the economy with some retail oomph, Fashion’s Night Out basically took NYC over, stores staying open until late at night, hosting celebs galore, styling sessions, runway walking lessons, cocktail parties, and more – not to mention what was for sale, like designer one-of-a-kind pieces, limited edition collections, and collections that debuted for the first time ever last night.

And, oh, did the celebrites come out in full force! Some of our most fashionable ladies were on hand to get people excited about shopping once again. Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen actually tended bar at Bergdorf Goodman, while Rihanna and Katy Perry stopped by shoe designer Giuseppe Zanotti’s store, looking fab. Two other especially LadyLike celebs, Cindy Crawford and Nicky Hilton, held down the fort at Jimmy Choo (notice a trend? Guess shoes and bags really are a girl’s best friend! This fall’s bag and shoe trends are all about fun prints, especially animal, perfect for LadyLike pieces like the horizontal box case!) Gwen Stefani showed up Bloomingdale’s, glowing with the pride that being a hard-working, talented mom gives a gal! Debra Messing stopped by Macy’s, and Charlize Theron at Dior…all in all, a lot of classy, elegant gals were in attendance, and I bet all of us who missed out are a little jealous!

Celebrity Gossip

So, who was “Ladylike” this week, and who…not so much?

the-dream-christina-milian

Congrats to Christina Milian, who married famous music producer, The Dream, last week in Vegas. The celeb opted for a non-celeb wedding and skipped th excess – the couple got married at The Little White Wedding Chapel, where Christina rented her dress and other necessities for $200!

Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte are back in action! Or, should we say, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall, and Kristin Davis? The gals began shooting the second Sex and the City movie last week in NYC. Another movie, another two hours of drooling over shoes!

Yay for  Mischa Barton, who has been in and out of rehab and psych wards lately, for showing that she’s sober, sane, and going strong. The public feared for the actress when she showed erratic behavior and couldn’t kick the rehab habit, but now it seems the actress is working hard on her CW show, Model Behavior, and recently rocked an Italian fashion shoot.

Not so LadyLike…

Lindsay Lohan has been photographed sporting deep wrinkles and age marks on her face – she’s so young! She’s a walking public service announcement against harmful behavior like smoking, binge drinking, drugs, and tons of tanning.

Reality stars Bethenny Frankel (Real Housewives of New York) and Rachel Zoe (The Rachel Zoe Project) are warring on Twitter. The fight was apparently started when Bethenny trashed Rachel’s shoe, which follows her styling career, and called Rachel self-obsessed. Rachel answered back, clearly hurt, and it seems she had a right to – these two have been friends for a few years now. Ouch!

Speaking of un-ladylike Housewives, Real Housewives of Orange County castmember Lynne Curtin has allegedly stolen furniture from the home she was recently evicted from! Not only was she not paying rent, but when she was sent to the curb, she took a bookcase, an armoir, a glass shelf, and a credenza with her. That’s a lot of baggage! Plus, she trashed the place. Is anyone else wondering why she was on a show about rich women to begin with? She sounds like a Real TrailerParkWife.

Keep coming back to LadyLike’s blog, where we’ll dish about who’s keeping with the LadyLike way of life!

Passion for Fashion

September 2nd, 2009

The bad news? Summer is over. Bye-bye pool. Farewell sandals. Until next year frozen margaritas.

The good news? Fall fashion! The best time of year! Fall is like New Year’s in the world of fashion. Everything begins again, brand new trends that we will all obsess over. So what are these trends this year?

Topshop jacket 120

Military Fashion

You know those jackets that look like you have them left over from that one embarrassing year in the marching band? They’re hot now, and it makes sense. Maybe those babies didn’t look so hot with matching polyester pants, but pair a structured military jacket that has great silver buttons with a black, full ruffled skirt? Perfection. The trend makes me think of the flip-top case, and how perfect they would be together, like a little bit of toughness meets femininity. Which brings me to…

biker-black-boots

Biker/Punk Rock

Everything this fall is black, leather, studs, zippers, and buckles. It’s all about embellishment, and it’s all about getting a little wild and crazy. If you’re already punk rock at heart, now’s your time to shine. Or, if you’ve always been one more for pink and frills, dying to look like a bad girl just once, now’s your chance. Go for leather bomber jackets, fishnets, clunky platforms and boots, and anything with studs and other embellishment. Accessorize with chains, bold statement necklaces, and edgier pieces like the horizontal box case.

lace dress

See-Through and Soft

Best paired with the harder trends like the biker look, a big look this fall is see-through fabrics, like chiffon, mesh, fishnet, and lace. Obviously these fabrics are to be worn over or under non-see-through pieces! By pairing a feminine look like a lace dress with a leather bomber, you get that girly look with a little edge – a huge trend. Or, you could go all the way girly and frill it up with laces and chiffons! And don’t forget to pair the look with high heel Mary Janes, lace-up boots, necklaces covered in gems, and the LadyLike pouch!
